Chatting with the CEO of Havensgate Productions LTD and the brain behind The Leading Women's Conference, Miss Valentina Halim seemed like having a chat with a long time pal as she gave me and my team a warm reception and was totally friendly and humble irrespective of her numerous and insightful achievements. We began an interesting chat.
Q: Please tell me a little about you ma.
A: My name is Valentina Halim and I am CEO of Havensgate Productions Ltd and Editor of Haven Africa. I am also the PR & Marketing Executive of Eko Atlantic and Editor of Silverbird’s Entertainment Weekly Magazine. I am Writer and Poet. I studied Mass Communication at Middlesex University in London, studied and taught the art of
playwriting at the prestigious Royal Court Theatre in Sloan Square.
Q:Walk me through Haven Africa™
A: Haven Africa™ is an online magazine geared to be the entertainment and lifestyle “bible” of Africa. Anything you need to know about Africa, be it fashion, current news, business, technology and so on, our magazine will provide you the information .At Haven, we celebrate both up and coming artists from the continent, from Akon to
Zaho or Chiwetel Ejiofor to Van Vicker. A captivating read that will broaden your horizon by changing your perspective.
We have embarked on the journey to promote Africa (our Africa) in a positive light. There's no denying that Africa needs major image building (some if not most parts), but that does not mean there is no good. It is by embracing and nurturing the good we can enhance progress in other parts. This is the beginning of great things to come.
Q: As the CEO and founder of Haven Africa, do you have a personal philosophy that guides you in your daily tasks and long-term planning?
A: Passion is my guide. In life, if you are not passionate about anything you will lose interest. My personal philosophy of life is to be kind, generous, helpful, and honest. I love to work with people and help others grow and develop into the people they choose to be in their lives. The spiritual or transpersonal element is crucial to my mission or philosophy of life. Without a connection to something bigger than ourselves we are nothing. Being connected to the mysteries of the universe, wondering what we are here for, and deciding for ourselves what holds us together are as important as anything else in life. My sense of spirituality is the notion of evolution of self and we are always moving toward some greater fulfillment of purpose. Things happen for a reason because we meet our destiny half way in the way we pursue our existence.
Q: What is the initiative behind The Leading Women Conference?
My reason for setting up this event was to serve as a platform for women seeking advice or the know-hows to set up, or successfully run their established business. The thirty-first of October will be LWC’s inaugural event. It is an event geared towards women seeking a powerful, transformational and educational experience. It will enable women create a bigger vision for themselves, learn the strategies to make it happen, design an action plan to get the results they want, connect with other women who will become part of your network. In other words, LWC offers a unique mix of learning from inspirational keynote speakers, mingling with other like-minded aspiring women.
Q: Who is this conference organized for? Is there a particular category of class with reference to the title of the event?
A: Our target audiences are young female professionals and graduates.
Q: Is this a maiden edition? If yes, will it be a recurring event? If no, which edition is this and what features of this edition makes it differ from the rest? What value will this conference bring to attendees and participants?
A: Yes. This is the maiden edition. Yes we have plans to make it an annual event. In fact, in May 2014, we will host the Leading Man Conference, which we also plan to make an annual event. LWC and LMC offer a unique mix of learning from inspirational keynote speakers, mingling with other like-minded aspiring women or men. A database will be built and follow ups will be made after the event to the attendees to provide them with more information or assistance.
The Leading Women Conference aims to help women especially female university students and entrepreneurs gain first hand knowledge on how to create a bigger vision for themselves. It promises to be an interesting and insightful event for those women who want to be on top of their game.
This conference will take place at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Victoria Island Lagos on October 31st, 2013. Now this is not a conference you want to read about from writers like me that will attend.lol.Be there.
